The Office of Human Resources Conversations of Performance Management curriculum is an online program intended to provide you with the tools and resources to engage in thoughtful and rewarding performance conversations. These resources focus on the four critical conversations managers and employees should be having throughout the year:

Increasing your critical thinking skills can help you in decision making, problem solving, creativity and planning. In this 25 minute online course, you’ll learn the key characteristics of critical thinking and how to implement a critical thinking process in your work. You will also learn how to avoid critical thinking mistakes, identify assumptions and biases, evaluate information, and distinguish between fact and opinion.
Learn why creating a professional brand is important, and how to create a brand that goes beyond your strengths, skills and character to convey your leadership ability. This 90 minute instructor-led interactive workshop includes reflection on your personal presence, how you use your strengths in your role, how you engage others, and your outcomes and results. Participants bring this information together on a Leadership Brand Worksheet and receive suggestions on how to continue their branding effort after the workshop.
This curriculum contains 4 online courses. To complete the curriculum successfully, you must complete all four courses. There is a suggested but not required sequence to the courses:

- Emotional Intelligence: Self-Awareness – Part 2 of 4
- Emotional Intelligence: Self-Management – Part 3 of 4
- Emotional Intelligence: Social Skills and Empathy – Part 4 of 4

In this 25 minute online course you’ll learn how to thrive under pressure and expand your career opportunities by taking initiative, effectively resolving problems, sharing your knowledge, and being an overall positive influence in the workplace.
The Ohio State University, as a public institution, must comply with laws governing public records. Effective compliance can only be achieved in an environment of proper records retention and management. This two hour instructor-led workshop will help participants become more knowledgeable about university policies, legal requirements, and best practices concerning the retention, management and disposition of records in their care.

This 90-minute instructor-led workshop introduces techniques to reframe thoughts, situations, and challenging relationships in a more positive or beneficial way. This refreshing and interactive session is full of tools and examples to help you look at things from new perspectives.
This online course helps you understand the nature of influence and persuasion and gives you tools to increase your influence. By learning the art of influence, you can change people’s minds, win their support, or broaden their perspective without resentment. Influence is not manipulation, bribing or forcing people to your point of view – influence is opening people’s minds to your way of thinking.

Do you have the same conversation more than once with the same person?This two hour instructor-led workshop provides tools and practice to help you increase your skill and comfort in engaging in difficult conversations. Learn how to prepare in advance, start the conversation effectively, and maintain a productive environment. We will also cover how to handle conversations that become difficult in the moment and how to anticipate and respond to other’s reactions.
